DECODI is a duly registered, faith-based, not-for-profit Christian organization that is committed to empowering rural poor communities, particularly single mothers in the Teso sub-region, by utilizing locally available resources to transform their lives in alignment with the Uganda government’s national Vision 2040 initiative.

DECODI commenced its operations in Soroti district in 2007, where volunteers mobilized communities, particularly women, into groups and established Village Saving Associations. Currently, DECODI continues to work with rural poor and disadvantaged communities in Amuria, Kapelebyong, Serere, Kaberamaido and Soroti districts, serving approximately 8,000 marginalised households headed by single mothers and widows.

Our overarching objective is to concurrently spread the Gospel of Jesus Christ to win each marginalised single mother, her household and entire community for God’s heavenly kingdom in response to the call of the Great Commission sounded by Jesus (Mathew 28: 16 – 20) whilst empowering them to re-position as self-motivated, community change-agents and gender champions who fearlessly amplify the voices and priorities of other marginalised women and hold duty-bearers accountable.
